Asia Pacific Youth Forum on SDGs
The Asia Pacific Youth Forum on SDGs - as part of a series of youth exchange activities involving collaboration between ESCAP, UNDP and Urban Youth Academy - took place over the period 5 to 15 August 2019.The Thai National Innovation Agency and the LINC Plus Foundation were partners in the event, which was initiated at the UNCC. It continued with the almost 190 youth participants from countries across Asia and the Pacific spending time working on sustainable development with grassroots communities across Thailand and following up with presentations on their experiences at the end of the Forum.

Asia-Pacific Workshop on Developing Tools to Measure Inclusive and Active Population Ageing
All countries in the Asia-Pacific region are ageing rapidly: the median age has increased in all countries in the region, even in those countries that are considered as having a primarily young population. As a result, many countries in the Asia-Pacific region will be considered as “aged” within the next two decades.
Workshop on Measuring Population Ageing and Assessing its Economic and Fiscal Consequences
Inclusive development that leaves no one behind requires good investment and good planning, as well as close adherence to the SDG framework. This workshop, organized by UNDESA and ESCAP, aimed to promote Asia-Pacific national strategies that are sustainable in light of the evolving demographic landscape to 2030 and beyond. It was intended for government officials and national professionals (demographers, statisticians, economists and others) involved in envisioning national futures via population, economic, fiscal or budgetary forecasts.
Population and Development at the 75th Session of the ESCAP Commission
The 75th Session of the ESCAP Commission will focus on the theme of “Empowering People and ensuring inclusiveness and equality”. In line with this theme, the Commission will review the outcome of the Midterm Review of the Asian and Pacific Ministerial Declaration on Population and Development.

Population ageing is one of the mega-trends affecting sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region as a whole as well as in South-East Asia. In South-East Asia, older persons are currently the fastest growing population cohort, growing at around 5 per cent a year.
