Review and Appraisal of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing

Overview

Every five years, countries of the ESCAP region undertake an analysis of the current state of implementation of MIPAA and the actions required to make further progress.  A voluntary national survey to member States assessing progress made in implementation of MIPAA, administered by the secretariat, is an important and integral part of the regional review process.

Fifth Asia-Pacific Review and Appraisal of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing

Pursuant to ECOSOC resolution 2025/8, regional commissions continue to facilitate the Fifth Review and Appraisal of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (MIPAA).
The fifth review and appraisal process takes place in 2026–2028.

Fourth Asia-Pacific Review and Appraisal of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing

Pursuant to ECOSOC resolution 2020/8, regional commissions facilitated the Fourth Review and Appraisal of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (MIPAA).
The fourth review and appraisal process took place in 2021-2023.

Adopted in 2002, the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (MIPAA) is the global framework for policy action on ageing focusing on the priorities of (a) older persons and development; (b) advancing health and well-being into old age; and (c) ensuring the existence of enabling and supportive environment.
